DESIGN & PROGRAM BRIEF: STUDIO- V
The studio was initiated with case studies of institutional Buildings which were done by students in groups. After division of the studios, the site and the program were introduced. Thereby the site analysis and detailed program formulation was done. Post that, the students started making schematic layouts based on a specific concept and considering site conditions. Case studies at an individual level were bifurcated in a two-fold manner- design based case study (studying a building having a similar thematic approach to the student’s concept) and a program-based case study (studying a community centre). After incorporating these parameters in their designs and after various stages of iterations in terms of Layouts, sections and 3d’s, the students went on to the presentation part.
A. 12 units for learning including two computer labs– 40 sq. m. per class for maximum 20 students = 480 sq. m. + 600 sq.mt admin + 200 sq. m. toilets & drinking water +120 sq. m. other misc.
B. 07 shared work spaces – 700 sq. m. + 500 sq. m. cafeteria
C. Performance spaces + exhibition spaces – 700+ 500 = 1200 sq. m.
D. A library = 800 sq. m.
E. Outdoor play area
F. Connecting and adjacent thresholds (atrium+ connectors) – 400 sq.m.
